Northeast Florida high school baseball regionals: Columbia Tigers advance in Class 5A

The Times-Union

Sophomore Grant Bowers and junior Matt Dumas combined on a three-hitter for Columbia, defeating visiting Lynn Haven Mosley 5-2 in Thursday night's Florida High School Athletic Association Region 1-5A baseball semifinal in Lake City.

The Tigers (21-8) advance to Monday's regional championship at home, where they will face Tallahassee Lincoln for a berth in the FHSAA finals later next week.

Columbia wasted little time in grabbing the upper hand against Mosley (16-12), jumping to a 2-0 lead in the first when Truitt Todd's two-run double plated Dumas and Bynton Edge.

The Tigers piled on in the fourth: Todd hit a sacrifice fly, Kade Jackson knocked an RBI single and later scored on a wild pitch.

Bowers struck out seven batters in five innings of work and Dumas fanned five in his two innings. Both Mosley runs were unearned.
