BLACKFOOT – A fire broke out in a detached garage on the corner of Apple Street and Wooten Way in Blackfoot Tuesday. Most of the contents of the fire were destroyed, including some collector vehicles and stored items in the structure.

Two Blackfoot Police cars and two Blackfoot Fire trucks were dispatched to the scene and found the structure engulfed in flames.

The fire was quickly extinguished and there were no injuries to persons in the vicinity.

It was widely speculated that the fire started from a heat lamp that was being used to protect young chickens during the cold nights of the past week or so and caught the bedding for the chicks, straw and wood shavings on fire, quickly spreading to the stored items and other wood in the cinder block building.

It is believed that the contents and building will be a complete loss, but due to the quick response by fire and police, no individuals were injured in the blaze.

This story will be updated if additional information becomes available.
