MONTREAL -- Joel Armia was officially named to Finland's squad for the IIHF World Championship on Thursday.

This marks the 28-year-old winger's first appearance at the event.
The Pori native registered 14 points (6 goals, 8 assists) in 60 games for the Canadiens this past season.

The tournament starts with preliminary-round play on Friday in Helsinki and Tampere.
Forward Josh Anderson (Canada), defenseman Jordan Harris (United States), and prospects Sean Farrell (United States) and Frederik Dichow (Denmark) are also playing in the World Championship.
Anderson was named an alternate captain
for the Canadian contingent.
