MAGNOLIA, N.C. (WNCT) — One person was killed Thursday in a collision between a school bus and another vehicle near 3090 US 117.

Officials said it was a head-on collision. No students were on the bus. The driver of the car was killed in the crash. The bus driver has been transported to Vidant Duplin by Duplin County EMS, according to the Magnolia Police Department.

“I can’t divulge the information about his condition other than the fact that he was taken by basic life support or BLS truck which is not critical,” said Magnolia Police Department Capt. Jason Holliday.

Part of U.S. 117 was closed while officials responded to the wreck. More than three surrounding agencies were on the scene, including the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
