RE-1 Valley School District and the City of Sterling Parks, Library and Recreation are once again partnering to offer a Summer Food Service Program.

The free lunch program will run June 6-July 28 at Prairie Park, across from the Sterling Recreation Center, with food served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Ayres Elementary School’s site will be open July 5-22, Tuesday through Friday.

Domino’s Pizza will be served on Wednesdays at the park and Friday at Ayres and throughout the week the PLR Department will provide daily activities or demonstrations for the children to participate in while they enjoy their meals at the park.

All children and teens 18 and under are eligible, regardless of income, and your kid’s eating does not limit the site’s ability to feed others that “need it more.” RE-1 food services will have food for all of the children.

There will be no grab and go option this summer and the Colorado Department of Education requires that all meals be eaten on site in order for the district to get its reimbursement paid.

“This is a great opportunity for your kids to keep in touch with friends and make new friends, you to get enjoy time in the park with other adults,” states a program flier.
