Koe Wetzel’s “Drunk Driving” Is Officially Certified Gold

Koe Wetzel cannot be stopped.

“Drunk Driving,” his single from his 2020 major label debut album Sellout, was just certified gold by RIAA via Columbia records.

Though Koe is signed to a major record label now, he’s received no radio play from any mainstream country stations (Texas radio is a different story), which makes the accomplishment all the more impressive.

Koe posted a photo on Instagram, thanking his fans and giving them all the credit for helping him reach the milestone by buying and listening to his music:

“Y’all did this. Thank you.”

A huge congratulations to Koe and his team on the gold record:

Back in November, he had “Something To Talk About” and “February 28, 2016,” from his 2017 Noise Complaint record, also be certified gold.

And he recently dropped a brand new single, “April Showers,” from his forthcoming (unnamed) studio album.

In addition to the new single, we know Koe has been in the studio at the Sonic Ranch down in Tornillo, Texas working on a new record. He already confirmed not long ago that it was almost done, and he would be dropping a new album sometime this year:

“We’re throwing out all the stops on this record. It’s more alternative, southern rock, heavier rock than what we’re used to. But I wanted this record to be that before I started making my country music.

This record does have some country sounding songs, but overall it’s more of an alternative record.

I just wanted to go in and kinda give everybody somethin’ to chew on before they got the full country record.”

We also know that it will likely include some sort of collaboration with Diplo, and with each passing day, it seems like we’re getting closer to the official announcement that KW5 on the way…

And I have a feeling there will be plenty more gold records in his future.
