A former Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) agent will serve as inspector general for the Kendall County Sheriff's Office. A news release from the sheriff's office says that Larry Lapp has been hired for the newly created position.

The inspector general will conduct internal investigations for the sheriff's department and will also work as the auditing official for the County of Kendall. In that role, Lapp will be responsible for receiving and investigating complaints about misconduct.

In addition to the FBI, Lapp has worked for the North Aurora Police Department and most recently as Investigations Commander for the Schaumburg Police Department.

Kendall County Sheriff Dwight Baird says the position will provide independent and impartial oversight which helps build public trust in law enforcement.
