Noah Syndergaard angered Mets fans when he appeared to troll his former team by celebrating Angels teammate Reid Detmers’ no-hitter, posting to Instagram, “This is what a ‘real’ no-hitter looks like.”

The former Mets pitcher claimed his post was not a jab at the Mets, though few believed him, especially Mets fans who spent the day ripping him on Twitter.

One of those Twitter users posted a Spongebob Squarepants photoshop with a book titled “How to Become a Clown in Less Than 20 Minutes,” saying it was one that Syndergaard reads “over and over again.”

But the best part came on a reply from Tylor Megill’s mother, Julie Megill, who said, “Part of his book club?”

It was an obvious jab to the book club Syndergaard started while he was recovering from Tommy John surgery during his Mets tenure, and Julie was likely sticking up for her son, who started New York’s combined no-hitter last month.
