A man was found slain in a hand-dug grave in Chilton County.
Sheriff’s deputies responded on May 5 to a wooded area east of Alabama 14 on a report of a suspicious incident, said Sheriff John Shearon.
Investigators discovered a body in the grave, the sheriff said. They worked throughout that Thursday night and into the following day processing the scene and recovering the body.
The remains were sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences. Earlier this week, authorities learned the manner of death was confirmed to be a homicide.
The victim is believed to be a white male in his late 20s or early 30s. He was 5-feet, 8-inches to 5-feet, 9-inches tall with an average build and dark hair.
He had at least one tattoo which was on the inside of his right forearm. That tattoo, Shearon said, is blue with a black outline and is possibly an image of a tropical fish.
