A northern Maine town had a frosty start to the day, but temps rebounded big time.

Spring in Maine can be a rollercoaster of up and down temps. The northernmost town in Maine, Estcourt Station, saw a big swing in temperatures on Wednesday, May 11. According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, temps bottomed-out at 27.5 degrees, before rebounding to a high of 83.8. The math comes-out to an impressive 56.3 degree swing in temps within a 24 hour period.

While the sun a mild temps has been a nice change of pace, the dry conditions are resulting in an untick in wildfires throughout the state.

Forecasters encourage taking extra precautions to prevent wildfires during these next few days. Always consult with local fire officials before doing any open burning, and comply with all applicable laws and regulations. Never leave an open fire unattended, and always completely extinguish campfires before leaving.
