Visitors to The Dalí Museum can explore 79 paintings, drawings and collages by famed 20th-century master Pablo Picasso in the special exhibition Picasso and the Allure of the South. The landmark exhibition features works on loan from Musée National Picasso-Paris, including works never before seen in the U.S.

In its final weeks, the exhibition considers Picasso’s deep connection to the south of France and northern Spain, where he made many of his most important contributions to modern art. The selected works beautifully reflect the artist’s time in this cross-cultural region, where some of his most creative periods took place, including Céret, Sorgues, Vallauris, Horta de Ebro and Cadaqués.

“We are elated to present these works to our visitors, many of which have made their very first U.S. appearance,” said William Jeffett, Chief Curator of Exhibitions at The Dalí. “The exhibition elaborates on Picasso’s longstanding presence in this key Mediterranean region and how it fueled his artistic activity.”

The exhibition concludes with a unique digital experience called YOUR PORTRAIT, which allows guests to further their understanding of the genre of cubism, while having their photo transformed into a one-of-a-kind cubist work of art. While the portrait is being generated, they gain insight into cubist imagery, compositions and color palettes alongside experiencing how the machine-learning application mimics those characteristics.

The exhibition is on display through May 22, 2022, exclusively at The Dalí Museum. Advance timed-tickets are required to visit and are available at TheDali.org.
