The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity softball team dropped game one of their Class 3A Area Playoff series on Friday at Dimmitt to the Bushland Lady Falcons, 10-0.

With the loss, the Lady Cats fall to 15-8 overall on the season.

The Lady Cats were the visiting team in game one, but couldn’t get anything going in the top of the first inning, as MyKenzie Price grounded out to the shortstop for out number one. Cadence Sanchez struck out swinging and Brookelyn Gau struck out looking to retire the side.

In the home-half of the first inning, Kinley Jordan popped up to Cadence Sanchez in foul territory at first base for out number one and Jaycee Adams flew out to Price in center field for out number two. Brylee Adams blasted a homerun to center field to put the Lady Falcons in front, 1-0. Abby Howell reached base on an error by Tricia Torres in right field and Jillian Howell ripped a two-run homerun over the left field fence to extend their lead to, 3-0.

Tatum Ainsworth reached base on an errror by Alex Tenorio at third base, but she was thrown out on the next play by Kaeleigh Logan at second base, as Natalia Sanchez was there for the tag to end the inning.

Katelyn Gau struck out swinging to open the top of the second inning for Littlefield, but Natalia Sanchez singled on a line drive to center field and Taryn Golden singled on an error by the shortstop to put two runners on for the Lady Cats. The runners would steal second and third, but would be stranded on base, as Tenorio struck out looking for out number two and Torres popped up to Jillian Howell at first base to retire the side.

Brookelyn Gau got Jayce Ornelas to strike out looking to begin the bottom of the second inning, but Charley Spinks doubled to right field to give the Lady Falcons a base runner. Chloe Cochran was sat down on strikes for out number two, but Jordan hit an RBI-double to center field to extend their lead to, 4-0, before Jaycee Adams grounded out to Tenorio at third base to end the inning.

The Lady Cats were kept quiet in the top of the third inning and in the home half of the inning, Brylee Adams singled through the left side to lead things off for Bushland, but Abby Howell popped up to Julie Rodriguez at second base for out number one and Jillian Howell grounded out to Tenorio at third base for out number two, as Brylee Adams advanced to second on the play. Ainsworth doubled to center field to drive in a run, pushing their lead to, 5-0, but Ornelas struck out swinging to end the inning.

Bushland would add three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and one run in the bottom of the sixth inning, as they run-ruled the Lady Cats, 10-0.

Brookelyn Gau pitched a complete game for the Lady Cats, earning four strike outs, while giving up 10 runs and no walks.
