ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Creighton's Katherine Lemke finished play at the NCAA Regional with her best round of the week as the freshman fired a 78 on Wednesday, May 11. After ranking in 66th place after one round, Lemke finished the week 58th among competitors to play all three rounds.

The first postseason qualifier in program history, Lemke shot an 84 on Monday before improving to shoot a 79 Tuesday prior to today's 78. Once again teeing off on No. 10, Lemke birdied her eighth hole (No. 17) and made the turn with a 4-over 39. She finished her tournament with a birdie on the closing hole (No. 9) as she carded a 78 on the day for a 241 total.

Lemke earned her spot in the NCAA Regionals by virtue of winning a playoff at the BIG EAST Championship on April 23rd, becoming Creighton's first BIG EAST individual champion in any sport when she rolled in a 20-foot putt on the first playoff hole. Her 213 total at the tournament was the best 54-hole score for Creighton in any event since at least 2003-04 and a figure that hasn't been surpassed by any player on any team at the league championship since 2013. It helped the Geneva, Ill., product be named First Team All-BIG EAST, BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and land a spot on the BIG EAST's All-Tournament Team.

Lemke finished her freshman season having played 33 rounds, with four of those under par. Her 76.36 scoring average is the best by a Bluejay since at least 2003-04 and helped her to four top-five finishes in 11  events. Prior to earning medalist honors at the BIG EAST Championship, she had won the Creighton Classic on Oct. 12 and finished as the runner-up on April 12th at Stampede at the Creek. Entering NCAA Regionals, GolfStat ranked Lemke as the ninth-best golfer in the BIG EAST Conference.

San Jose State (+10) won the Regional with a three-round team total of 862. That was three shots better than Virginia (+13) and 18 shots better than both Arkansas and Michigan (+28). All four of those teams advanced to the NCAA Championships, finishing just ahead of Virginia Tech (31).

Virginia Tech's Emily Mahar (-1) and Old Dominion's Jana Melichova (E) both qualified as individuals for the NCAA Championships after finishing second and third, respectively.

San Jose State's Natasha Andrea Oon won the tournament by five shots, as her 3-under 68 on Wednesday gave her a 54-hole total of 207 (-6). That put her ahead of Mahar (-1),  Melichova (E) and San Jose State's Lucia Lopez-Ortega (E).

BIG EAST champion Xavier finished in 10th place with a three-round total of 905. The Musketeers finished four shots ahead of UCF and 37 shots ahead of Oakland. Emma McMyler, one of two Musketeers who tied Lemke for the BIG EAST individual crown, compiled loops of 73, 72 and 71 to tie for ninth place in the field.

The University of Michigan Golf Course featured a 6,265 yard layout and owns a par of 71. The Ann Arbor venue was one of six regional sites, with 72 total teams and 36 individuals invited to the 2022 NCAA postseason. Each regional site featured 12 teams and six individuals, with the top four teams (24 total) and top two individuals (12 total) not on an advancing team heading to the national finals at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., Friday through Wednesday, May 20-25
