UPDATE (May 12th):
Thursday we have new details about an accident on I-24 in Grundy County that caused lumber to spill from a tractor trailer, injuring two people and shutting down the east and westbound lanes Wednesday.
Wednesday a tractor trailer hauling lumber was travelling in the right lane of I-24 west when it crossed into the left lane and continued onto the shoulder, according to THP.
THP says they tractor trailer struck the center retaining wall, causing his load straps to break.
It then crossed both lanes, running off the side of the roadway where THP says the tractor trailer continued on a downward sloping embankment where it hit trees.
The tractor trailer then became lodged in the trees, THP says.
The driver remained in the vehicle but the passenger was ejected out of the front, THP says.
In I-24 eastbound two CMVs were struck by lumber that fell off of the tractor trailer, disabling both of the vehicles, according to THP.
The lumber blocked both east and west bound lanes, THP says.
Both the driver and the passenger of the tractor trailer were injured, THP says.

I-24 westbound in Grundy County is back open after wood spilled across the lanes earlier Wednesday.

A multi vehicle crash that involved wood spilling across I-24 in Grundy County has shut down the westbound lanes Wednesday, TDOT cameras show.
The accident happened at mile marker 132.4.
We have reached out to THP and they are working to clear up the traffic situation.
