Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick 'are set to reprise their roles for a sequel' to the twisted thriller A Simple Favor with Paul Feig back as director

A sequel to the 2018 thriller A Simple Favor has reportedly been set in motion.

And the film's stars Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick will be reprising their roles with the film's director Paul Feig coming back for more, according to a Wednesday report from Deadline.

There are no details yet about the plot for the second film but the writer will be Jessica Scharzer who wrote the original. 

Studio Lionsgate will be working with Amazon Studios on the sequel. A shoot date and location have not been named yet.    

The first film was about a quirky single mom vlogger named Stephanie, played by Kendrick.

She is a bit lonely as she tries to fit into her Connecticut community and feels something is missing in her life.

Then she becomes friends with another mom: a stunningly gorgeous woman named Emily who lives in a modern mansion, has a cool job and a fabulous wardrobe to match.

They bond over martinis and a shared interest in having more for themselves. 

But then Emily disappears and Stephanie starts looking into her past which is very suspicious.

The film was directed by Feig who got his start with Freaks And Geeks, and went on to direct actress Melissa McCarthy in some of her blockbusters like on Bridesmaids, Spy, The Heat and Ghostbusters. 

The film made almost $100 million worldwide at the box office for Lionsgate and the reviews were for the most part positive.

All three of the big names attached to the sequel have been working hard lately.

Lively starred in 2020's The Rhythm Section and was the belle of the Met Gala earlier this month with husband Ryan Reynolds as she wore Versace.

And she has also signed up for several films: she will make her movie directorial debut with Seconds for Searchlight and has also signed up to star in The Making Of, Proxy and The Husband's Secret.

Kendrick has starred in the film Stowaway and was on HBO Max’s Love Life.

Feig directed the Netflix adaptation of The School for Good and Evil, starring Charlize Theron.
