The Bears released Willis on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
Willis joined the Bears' practice squad last Decembe and dressed a backup for the team's Week 16 game against Seattle. He then re-upped with Chicago on a reserve/future contract in January, but he won't make it with the Bears to training camp.
