The LaSalle County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal hit-and-run that crash that happened Sunday on Route 351 south of LaSalle near the I&M Canal entrance.
Police say 45-year-old Carl J. Telford, of LaSalle was riding an electric bicycle when he was hit by what appears to be a late 90's white Cadillac Escalade which then fled from the scene. Telford was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries on Monday.
Witnesses told police that the vehicle had a yellow, temporary registration plate. Pieces of the vehicle's passenger side mirror were recovered from the scene as a result of an accident.
