A musical double bill of Joan Osborne and Madeleine Peyroux is a pretty inspired concept.

It wouldn't have occurred to me personally to match the pair, but I'm still rethinking my suggestion that an Art Garfunkel/Cradle of Filth tour was a boffo idea. That one, ah, didn't work out too well when Dani Filth emerged from the wings to help Art sing "Scarborough Fair/Canticle" and was carrying a stake with a severed pig head on it. Plus, Dani was slightly flat ...

Anyhoo, Peyroux and Osborne appear Friday at the Garde Arts Center. It's a makeup date for a show originally scheduled for last September and cancelled because of COVID. The two venues are partnering in this presentation.

Adding to the conceptual fun? Osborne will perform her classic "Relish" album in its entirety while Peyroux will replicate her entire and iconic "Careless Love" recording. And no Dani Filth in sight!
