Local graduations are this weekend

All four area high school graduations are scheduled for this Sunday, May 15. Senior photos and the graduates’ future plans are listed in the graduation section of this newspaper.

Clifton-Clyde – Graduation will be in Bill Bechard Gym at 2 p.m. The speaker is retired USD 224 English teacher Vic Koch. Hanover – Graduation

Hanover – Graduation is scheduled for 1 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Fourteen seniors will graduate.

The junior high and high school band will play, and the valedictorian and salutatorian will be named. Awards for distinguished community service, the citizenship award and state scholar curriculum completers will also be awarded. The senior multimedia presentation will also be shown.

Linn – Twelve seniors will graduate from Linn at 1 p.m. The ceremony will include recognition of parents and staff, valedictorian and salutatorian, and the presentation of the senior video.

Washington County – Commencement is scheduled for 2 p.m. in the high school gym. Twenty seniors are slated to graduate. The guest speaker is Dan Ditmars, and awards will be presented for the Top 10 Percent, KSHSAA Citizens Award, and Dale M. Dennis Excellence in Education Award.

Eighth grade

Clifton-Clyde – The eighth grade promotion/parent luncheon is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 13, at the CCMS auditorium. The citizenship award will be given. Twenty-five eighth graders will graduate.

Linn – Kindergarten and eighth grade promotion will be Tuesday, May 17, at 7 p.m. There will be the presentation of the American Legion award and the citizenship award. There will be 15 kindergarteners and 15 eighth graders who graduate.

Linn Lutheran - Eighth grade graduation will be Wednesday, May 18, at 6:30 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with a cake reception to follow. There will be six graduates.

St. John’s Catholic - Eighth grade graduation is Monday, May 16, at 7 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church. There are 10 graduates. Awards will include Knights of Columbus Vocation Poster Contest Winners, Washington County Conservation Poster Contest Winners, Spelling Contest Winners, Pro-Life Essay Contest Winners, Honor Roll Achievers and KSHSAA Citizenship.

Washington County – Eighth grade graduation is scheduled for Tuesday, May 17, at 7 p.m. in the high school gym. Twenty-one eighth graders are set to graduate. The KSHAA Citizenship award will be given out.

Hanover – Kindergarten and eighth grade promotion will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, in the high school gym. There will be five eighth graders and 15 kindergarteners graduating.

There will be Pomp and Circumstance played during the processional as well as the kindergarten song, “Graduation Song,” during the ceremony. The Citizenship Award will be presented.
