A Hays, Kansas man died following a crash Tuesday night east of Phillipsburg, Kansas.

According to the Phillips County, Kansas Sheriff’s Office, around 5 p.m., a 2016 Toyota Tacoma driven by 74-year-old George Korobka was traveling westbound on East Santa Fe Road when it began to skid and travel off of the roadway into a washout.

The sheriff’s office said the road was closed due to the washout.

The Toyota Tacoma struck the west bank and came to a rest in the bottom of the washout. Korobka was pronounced dead at the scene.
