Preparations are in full swing for the 27th annual Take-a-Stand against child abuse on July 15 and July 16. This spring, students from Rolla, St. James, Newburg, and Edgar Springs competed in PCB’s contest to design the front of the Take-a-Stand t-shirts.
From hundreds of posters, the following students were honored as the district finalists: Ella Hwang, Trinity Price, Dexter Canon, Steele Ruble, Hannah Steele, Shivam Patel, Blair McCurdy, Isabel Ilges, Vanessa Simpson, Heidi Arnold, and Miles Lough.
Dylan Wilkerson, a third grader at St. Pats School, was selected as the grand prize winner and the official artist for 2022. Her surfing dinosaur t-shirt is now available to order online at www.mypcb.com/volunteer for a donation of $10 for youth sizes and $15 for adult sizes.
One-hundred percent of the money raised from the t-shirt and lemonade sales will benefit child abuse prevention programs in this community. Organizations that receive funds belong to the Phelps County Child Advocacy Network (PCCAN) and provide parent mentoring and baby wellness classes, support for foster children and abused children in the court system, free child car seats for low income families, one time emergency assistance for families with children, after school programs enrichment programs, and much more.
