Scott Brown’s first step on the managerial ladder looks likely to be with EFL side Fleetwood Town, with the Daily Mail reporting Celtic’s legendary former captain will named boss of the League One side, who just avoided relegation last season.

Broony, who had previously been linked with the managerial position at Raith Rovers announced his retirement from playing just last week and it now appears that was pre-emptive of a decision to move into the dugout with Fleetwood.

If appointed Brown picks up the managerial baton at the English side from former Celt Stephen Crainey and Brown will now also be in charge of former Ibrox players Joe Garner and Jordan Rossiter for the upcoming season as well as following is the footsteps of Joey Barton – who has previously resided in Broony’s back pocket – who had an unsuccessful time at the club – so not the biggest of shoes to fill there Scott!

Highbury Stadium in front of a support known as the Cod Army appears a good starting point for Scott Brown. Moving to England cuts the ties with Scotland somewhat and will probably ensure he is less likely to face a media circus around his appointment.

Fleetwood are also a club who have given young managers their breaks in the past, and considering only goal difference kept the side in League One this season, it may on paper look a tough place to start, however, really the only way is up for any manager who has belief in his own ability. And with 22 domestic trophies won with Celtic and a firmly established winning mentality there really is no reason why Scott Brown can’t be the man to revive Fleetwood’s fortunes next season.

I’m sure every Celtic supporter will be wishing Scott Brown every success, and keeping a regular eye on Fleetwood’s progress next season.
