EJ Perry will be paid like a drafted player during his first NFL season.

The former Brown University quarterback has agreed to a significant guarantee with the Jacksonville Jaguars ahead of his opening rookie minicamp. The NFL Network reported Perry’s one-year contract will total $230,000.

Perry’s deal includes $207,000 in salary and a bonus of $23,000. The Bushnell Cup winner — the award given to the top offensive player in the Ivy League — will report to the team on Friday.

Quarterback EJ Perry, formerly with Brown, will be paid $230,000 in his first season with the NFL's Jaguars.

Perry was seeking to become the first quarterback selected from the conference since Ryan Fitzpatrick in 2005. His performances at the East-West Shrine Bowl and NFL Combine followed a strong fifth season with the Bears. Perry passed for 3,033 yards, rushed for 402 more and totaled 30 touchdowns in 10 games.

Perry initially agreed in principle with the Philadelphia Eagles but sought a different team after what became a crowded quarterback room. Carson Strong signed for $320,000 this season as an undrafted free agent out of Nevada, including a $20,000 bonus. It’s believed to be the largest guarantee for a college free agent in the current draft class.

Jacksonville’s current starter is Trevor Lawrence, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 draft. C.J. Beathard and Jake Luton are among the potential backups along with Perry. Beathard signed with the Jaguars prior to the 2021 season while Luton is back for a second stint after spending the 2020 campaign with the club.

Brown QB EJ Perry shows his quickness as he is chased out of the pocket during last September's game against URI.

Michael Hoecht is the lone active Brown alum currently on an NFL roster. The defensive lineman went undrafted ahead of the 2021 season and won a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams. Hoecht was active for 17 games, making three starts.
