BLACKFOOT — A fire broke out in a detached garage on the corner of Apple Street and Wooten Way on Tuesday morning.

Most of the contents of the garage were destroyed, including some collector vehicles and stored items in the structure.

Blackfoot police and fire units were dispatched to the scene and found the structure engulfed in flames.

The fire was quickly extinguished and there were no injuries.

It was widely speculated that the fire started when a heat lamp that was being used to protect young chickens during the cold nights of the past week ignited the bedding for the chicks. The flames quickly spread to the stored items in the cinder block building.

It is believed that the garage is a complete loss but due to the quick response by firefighters and police, no individuals were injured in the blaze.
