Prep Track: Great Plains Lutheran teams sweep titles again in ECC meet

The streaks are alive and well for Great Plains Lutheran's track and field teams in the Eastern Coteau Conference.

The Panthers capture the boys division title for the 16th-straight time and the girls division crown for the 12-straight time in the conference meet that was held Tuesday at Allen Mitchell Field.

GPL won the boys division with 196.5 points, even though they won only one event - Parker Walkins in the 110-meter hurdles. Tri-State edged Florence-Henry 129.5-124 for second place.

The Panther girls rolled to the team title with 254.5 points, followed by Florence-Henry at 157. Dakota Hills and Waverly-South Shore also competed.

Halle Bauer took the 1,600 and 3,200 runs for GPL, which also got wins from Keturah Schleusener (200 dash), Kim Goens (100 hurdles), Kyrie Roberts (300 hurdles), Dayzee Holloway (high jump) and Briana Cordle (shot put). Roberts, Schleusener and Goens were joined by Kate Holmen on the winning 400 and 800 relays.

Tri-State's strong showing in the boys division included event wins by Dominick Anderson (200 and 400 dash), Graysen Madsen (800 run) and Kaleb Foltz (1,600 run). Anderson, Jakobe Anderson, Foltz and Madsen also won the 1,600 relay and Foltz, Amsden Piotter, Riley Ceroll and Madsen the 3,200 relay.

Ethan Paulson (300 hurdles and long jump), Chase Kelly (shot put and discus), Andrew Schroeder (100 dash) and Mehki Keller (triple jump) won events for Florence-Henry. The Faclson also won the 400 relay with Ashton Hanson, Keller, Schroeder and Paulson.

Jayveen Maag (3,200 run) and Kolby Haubris (high jump) won events for Dakota Hills, which also won the 800 relay with Keitrick Genia, Dominic Hopkins, Haubris and Albert Heminger and the medley with Genia, Heminger, Jaxen Docktor and Nolan Thuringer.

Other event winners in the girls division were Livia Tomac of Dakota Hills (100 dash), Trinity Watson of Florence-Henry (400 dash and 800 run), Carlie Moe of Florence-Henry (long jump), Morgan Navratil of Tri-State (triple jump) and Kadee Davidson of Tri-State (discus).

Florence-Henry won the medley relay withy Moe, Roean Raymer, Caylin Kelly and Brooke Hlavacek and the 1,600 with Hlavacek, Kelly and Taylor and Trinity Watson.

Liza Purdy, Eva Benike, Julia Anderson and Ashlyn Ebben ran on the winning 3,200 relay for Dakota Hills.

Tri-State's Kaleb Foltz cruised to victory in the boys' 1,600-meter run and also ran on two winning relays Tuesday during the Eastern Coteau Conference track and field meet at Allen Mitchell Field.

Lake Central Conference

VOLGA -- Sioux Valley's girls and Flandreau's boys captured team titles Tuesday in the Lake Central Conference track and field meet.

The Cossacks scored 179 points to top the field in the girls division, followed by Flandreau at 151. Flandreau won the boys division by a 161-130 margin over Clark-Willow Lake. Deuel, De Smet, Hamlin and Castlewood also competed in the meet.

Adison Renkly (100- and 300-meter hurdles), Kamryn Schwartz (long and triple jumps) and Reagan Johnson (100 dash) each won events for Sioux Valley's girls. Schwartz and Johnson also ran on the winning 400 relay along with Kalia and Kalista King.

Gracelyn Leiseth of Hamlin swept the girls' shot put and discus, setting a meet record in the shot put (45-7). Other area event winners included Mackenzie Everson of Castlewood (200 and 400 dashes), Jaycee Hourigan of Deuel (3,200 run), Jada Burke of Deuel (high jump) and Rylie Bass of Deuel (pole vault).

Everson also anchored Castlewood's winning 800 and 1,600 relays. Cassidy Kirwan, Presley Knecht and Kelly Goens also ran on the 800 and Kelly and Kayla Goens and Knecht rounded out the 1,600 squad.

Area event winners in the boys division included Tague Tvedt of Deuel (3,200 run and pole vault), Trey Huber of Clark-Willow Lake (400 dash), Ricky Berndt of Deuel (800 run), Tyler O'Neill of Clark-Willow Lake (1,600 run), Donovan Rose of Sioux Valley (110 hurdles), George Jensen of De Smet (triple jump), Avery Nichols of Clark-Willow Lake (shot put) and Kaden St.Pierre of Hamlin (discus).

Clark-Willow Lake took the 1,600 (O'Neill, Jack Helkenn, Brady Jordan and Huber), 3,200 (Gunnar Kvistad, Jordan, Wyatt Anderson and O'Neill) and medley relay (Cristian Banda, Tate Burke, Emmerson Larson and Kvistad).

Castlewood won the 400 and 800 relays with Logan Eng, Kegan Tvedt and Jaron Tharaldsen running on both. Quincy Thue ran the 400 and Jeremiah Wiersma the 800.
