James Richard Saville

James Richard “Dick” Saville of Sterling, VA passed away peacefully on April 12, 2022 after a long illness of Alzheimer’s. Dick was born on August 31, 1941 in Winchester, VA. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Edith Saville; his children, Robin (Todd) Mumpower of Purcellville, Sandra (Russ) Meadows of Purcellville and David (Kim) Saville of Berryville; and his grandchildren, Jessica Pullis, Scott Mumpower, Adam Pullis, Troy Mumpower, Taylor Sears and Payton Saville. He is also survived by his sister, Bonnie Kohne of Wardensville, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Maxine Saville of Wardensville, WV, his sister, Connie Rinard of Winchester, VA and his brother, Bob Saville of Wardensville, WV.

Dick graduated from Wardensville High School in 1960. He soon moved to northern Virginia to work for his uncle at the Triangle Grocery Store. He started in business for himself by taking over the Triangle Sinclair Service Station in Dranesville in 1963. In 1968 the widening of Route 7 took over this property, so he then moved to the Herndon Junction American which later became Saville’s Amoco. He retired from the service station business in 1985 and he then started Dick Saville’s Lawn Service. He continued to work at this with his wife until his health problems prevented him from working.

Dick was a member of Dranesville United Methodist Church and the Sterling Ruritan. He loved woodworking, hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed!

A Celebration of Life is being planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Sterling Ruritan Club 183 Ruritan Rd. Sterling,VA 20164 or Dranesville United Methodist Church 1089 Liberty Meeting Ct. Herndon, VA 20170.
