Det. Elliot Stabler isn’t backing off his beat anytime soon.
NBC has renewed Law & Order: SVU spinoff Organized Crime for Season 3, TVLine has learned.
The original Law & Order was also picked up for Season 22 on Tuesday; SVU previously earned another season (its 24th) as part of a whopping three-season renewal in February 2020 (new showrunner TBA).
“The iconic Law & Order brand has long been synonymous with NBC and we couldn’t be more excited to bring back all three of these dramas for the 2022-23 season,” Lisa Katz, President of Scripted Programming, NBCU Entertainment and Streaming, said in a statement. “It’s a testament to the brilliance of Dick Wolf;s storytelling that audiences remain compelled by these unforgettable characters week after week, year after year.”
Organized Crime this season is averaging 5.5 million total weekly viewers and a 1.0 demo rating (with Live+7 playback), down 30 and 33 percent from its freshman run. Out of the 14 dramas that NBC has aired this TV season, it ranks No. 9 in audience and sixth in the demo.
In Season 2, Chris Meloni’s Stabler was forced to work alongside his wife’s killer in a police investigation (long story) and then became embroiled in a deep dive into a corrupt cabal of New York City police officers. Meanwhile, in Organized Crime/ SVU crossovers, Stabler continued to repair and examine his relationship with his family and his former law enforcement partner, Olivia Benson (played by Mariska Hargitay).
TVLine’s 2022 Renewal/Cancellation Scorecard has been updated to reflect Organized Crime‘s renewal.

I like this show
But needs more stability (pardon the pun) as now on its 4th show runner!
No, it’s on it’s second showrunner…
It’s on its second showrunner….
Love the show!
I enjoyed the storylines that were away from the Dylan McDermott stuff. I was ready for that story to be over after season one. Now that he’s gone for good I’m enjoying it a lot more.
I agree. Not sure we needed to rehash the Richard Wheatley storyline, but I enjoyed the Serbian story and Denis Leary was a great addition as a crooked cop.
BUT… is he gone for good? They never found his body…
Maybe they’ll call in the FBI Fugitive Task Force to find him. 😛
I like Stabler much better on Organized Crime.
I have always liked Stabler. I left SVU when Chris Meloni left. I am only watching Organized Crime because of him.
Same here 👍👍
Me too!! The Wheatley story went far too long. But I am liking him on FBI !
And just the opposite – I have NEVER liked Stabler when he was on SVU and I like him even less on Organized Crime. Too angry, too out of control.
Yes!!!, I enjoy all the Law and Orders shows.
More cross over of oc and s.v.u love both shows love stabler and olivia
Me too I’m happy that Law & Order: Organized Crime is back I’ll be even more happy if the writers would get Elliot and Olivia together romantically they’re made for each other and been inlove with each other for awhile now
Glad it is being renewed. Been waiting on the DVDs to be released for Season 1. Have any idea if they are going to be available?
Good! 👍🏻 NO more Saint Olivia in OC please. She has her own show, stay there‼️
Glad to see someone feels the same. The worse part is when Super Liv breaks the rules she’s given a free pass Elliot does it and everyone from the police department bosses to the politicians are crying for his blood. Yet he’s the grunt detective compared to Olivia. You think condemning the police Captain would be setting the better example.
This makes no sense! However!!!! Liv on OC has been magnificent! It’s just like 1.0 liv all over again! Yes times have changed and she has adapted but she has never been happier than as of lately!! Being a badass and happy is the best look for that woman who deserves the world!!!
No she isn’t still insufferable and double standard but she always gets a pass when she mucks things up she still believes she is in the right but Elliot has to mind his actions Liv just thinks being a Captain is her ‘do whatever to who ever pass’ even though she does the same aggressive roughshod tactics as him. She needs to keep her bleeding heart on SVU. I can’t expect anything but a biased response from someone named ‘Bensler4.0’
Typical shipper bias is strong with this one. Liv sucks and she needs to keep as far from organized crime as possible. You don’t stop crime bosses with cheesey feeling speeches
The only Law and Order show I bother to watch anymore since it shows things from the criminal’s side its the closest to Criminal Intent. Also the hypocrisy from SVU’s Saint Olivia breaks the rules and protocols because she feels strongly about things and she’s forgiven or seen as a hero Elliot does it and the higher ups want to serve him up. Worse of it is Olivia is a Captain and Elliot is a detective a grunt and yet they give the police Captain a free pass?
I cannot stand Olivia!!!
I love all three Law & Order SVU is my favorite Law & Order why because it’s speak the truth and Olivia no matter what she fights for the victim even though sometimes it seemed that she don’t but she do and I love it about her how she react to the victims
Sorry. But, I’m disappointed with the return of the original L&O. I’m not thrilled with Organized Crime. However, I like SVU and the original L&O.
You got to imagine that SVU and OC will finish at the same time. A huge part of the reason why people wanted Stabler back was because we missed his character but also because we want Stabler and Benson together (I know a lot of people don’t but I would say the number who want them together is even bigger and why else kill off Kathy). I can only handle Benson when Stabler is there to keep her saintly halo in check.
I love this show! S1 dragged out way too long. It seams to be picking up the pace a little now. I think what could help this format they’re using is to have occasional short stories indirectly tie in with their case, but wrap it up in a couple episode once in awhile. I’d also like to see more of the Stabler clan together, at a meal or a family function or something . Also maybe some crossovers with one Chicago..
These 2 shows Law and Order Special Victims and Organize Crime have become 2 of my most crime shows in years. The first one deals with crime that happens in real life although victims are fictional and the second shows what happens when gets involved with gangs and their members keep you on your toes at all times in both shows. Thanks NBC for bringing Elliott & Oliva back together.
Wow, had me scared for a moment that Law & Order: Organize Crime wasn’t returning, Thanks to all that’s involved in bringing this back for its 3rd season 🎉
Great news, it’s been immense since coming back!
O yes, thank you .I’m really glad that it’scgoing to be renewed.Very interesting, realistic snd adventurous storyline.
Without these on tv we would have been really bored as one knowsvfor sire that Dick Wolf always leaves his mark.Eish, so much talent.
Love Organized Crime (SVU). Christopher Meloni plays the part well along with the team. Congratulations to another season; congratulations to the genius of Dick Wolf.
Love all three Law & Order, watching reminds me of my days working in the courts of lower Manhattan and the excitement. I am retired and relocated, it makes me home sick.
Bet you’ve got some stories! ⚖️😛
OMG yeeesss!!!!!!
It should be organized into the “cancel file”
Happy to hear that both shows were renewed. Love Christopher Meloni. Also, love Dylan McDermott in his new role on FBI Most Wanted. Both gentlemen are amazing actors. Wish them both continued success.
Law & Order Organized Crime is too boring. Every episode the story is the same. I prefer Eliot Stabler on SVU. The charisma between him and Olivia is insurmountable. The storylines are always changing.
I love the story line on Organized crime because it does happen some in real life. I enjoy the acting as well as the drama! Its a great show and I’m thrilled it is going to be carried again the next season !
Glad to see renewals. I really like when the characters are shown with parts of their families and/or personal life’s. Especially balancing the stress of job with situations from home life. The best example was when Stabler’s son was accused of murder. It brought those elements together.
