New Albany High School basketball court to be renamed after high school basketball star, NBA player
Former Indiana high school star and now-NBA player Romeo Langford is getting honored by his alma mater in The Hoosier State.The New Albany-Floyd County Schools board has decided to name the basketball court at Langford's former high school after him, according to New Albany High School's Twitter. Langford was named Mr. Indiana Basketball in 2018. He ranks fourth as the state's all-time high school basketball scorer, and he was a McDonald's All-American. After playing college ball for the Indiana Hoosiers, Langford was drafted by the Boston Celtics with the 14th pick in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft. He played nearly three seasons with the Celtics before being sent to the team's G-League team, the Maine Red Claws.However, on Feb. 22, Langford got picked up in the middle of the 2021-22 season by the San Antonio Spurs. The New Albany Bulldog's court will be renamed Romeo Langford Court after a unanimous vote amongst the NAFCS board of education. This will be the second court in Floyd County named after Langford, the other being the basketball court at Kevin Hammersmith Memorial Park, which was named after him before he even graduated high school.
