SAN ANTONIO - There's a rescue flight next month that will help a hundred shelter pets find new homes up north, but the city is looking for temporary homes for them to stay in until then.
According to a release issued by the city, Animal Care Services is partnering with the BISSELL Pet Foundation for the second time in as many months to fly cats and dogs up to the State of New York.
Before the animals land in Buffalo, New York next month, they'll need a temporary place to stay and would-be and current ACS fosters are being urged to fill out a special transport foster form at www.saacs.info/transport.
ACS will then contact interested residents with information about what pets are going on the flight and drop off instructions for when it happens.
"Of course, we want to make sure the dogs and cats are healthy before they pack their bags so fosters will need to come by for a brief vet exam before they go," the release stated. "Residents are urged to sign up today to ensure as many pets as possible can be on the rescue flight - SAACS has a goal of 100 pets to take part in this rescue flight."
People also can also help shelter pets make their flight with certain items off the San Antonio ACS transport wish list on Amazon. It can be found at: www.saacs.info/transportwishlist.
