On Saturday May 7, at approximately 11:30 a.m. two vehicles were involved in a collision on L62A near mile marker 8 on Highway 385.
46-year-old Sheldon I. Gibbons of Bayard was pronounced dead at the scene.
74-year old Dale Frederick of Alliance was airlifted for treatment. 20-year-old Sheldon Gibbons Jr. of Bayard was also transported for medical treatment.
The crash remains under investigation.
The initial investigation indicates that restraints were in use and that alcohol does not appear to have been a factor.
The matter is being investigated by the Morrill County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from Nebraska State Patrol.
Assisting at the scene were Nebraska Game and Parks, Bayard Police, and the Bridgeport and Bayard fire departments.
