Katherine Kelly Lang Reveals How She Broke Her Ankle!
It sounds like Mother’s Day weekend was unforgettable for THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL star Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke) — and not in a good way! The actress revealed in a series of videos and photos posted on her Instagram page that a horse ride with friends on May 7 ended in disaster when she broke her ankle!
“I hope you all had an amazing Mother’s Day today,” the Emmy winner began her lengthy Instagram post. “What did you do for Mother’s Day? I started out on a beautiful ride yesterday with friends. Our plan was to do 40 miles for training for the 50-mile horse race coming up in June.”
Lang continued that “it was a beautiful day” at Malibu Creek State Park, where the equestrians were out riding. “At around 16 miles, I got off my horse to walk down a steep and very rocky trail to give her a break.” And that’s where the B&B star took a tumble! “At the bottom of the trail, I tripped on a rock and my left foot took the pounding. My ankle and foot dislocated off to the left at a 90-degree angle to my leg.”
Knowing she couldn’t possibly move anywhere with her foot in that position — with or without help — Lang had to push her dislocated ankle back into place! “It was so gross, but I had to do it,” she revealed, adding that her fall happened by a road in the park and a good Samaritan called the paramedics. “And thankfully, I was with my friends who helped with my horse and spirits.”
After arriving at the hospital by ambulance, an X-ray showed that Lang had broken three bones in her ankle. “[I] had surgery late that night, and now have rods, pins, and screws in my ankle,” she explained. “No weight bearing on my foot for six weeks.”
However, Lang promised that not even a broken ankle could prevent her from continuing Brooke’s storyline on B&B! “I will still go to work later this week and try to heal quickly so I can do all the things I loved to do,” she insisted.
Although she spent her Mother’s Day in the hospital recovering from surgery, Lang was upbeat and “trying to have a smile on my face. I am not a happy camper when things slow me down like this. And there’s always a lesson to learn,” she concluded. “Not sure what that lesson is yet but will have the time to contemplate.”
It’s too early to know if Lang’s injury will be written into Brooke’s storyline, but the chances are high that viewers will see the character sitting a lot over the next few months! In the meantime, please join us in wishing Lang a speedy recovery!
