Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Provides Rough Timeline for Return of Blake Treinen

On Saturday, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts informed reporters that reliever Blake Treinen is opting to not undergo a MRI and will instead, continue to rehab as much as possible. It wasn’t exactly the news Dodgers fans wanted to hear about one of the team’s best high leverage relievers.

One day later, Roberts provided more details on when Treinen will be back in the Dodgers bullpen (quotes via OCR’s Bill Plunkett).

“Right now, he’s just going to rehab. He’s still not playing catch so I don’t have a timetable. I will say it’s safe to say his value for us is during the stretch run – whatever that means. So we’re going to take our time with him and do everything we can to make sure he’s ready for the second half of the season.”

Although the Dodgers have plenty of depth in the bullpen, but losing Treinen for another couple months is far from ideal. Last year, Treinen was arguably the Dodgers best and most trusted reliever last season. He made a team-high 72 appearances and put up a 1.99 ERA.

Prior to hitting the injured list on April 22nd, Treinen pitched in three games for the Dodgers this season (3.00 ERA).

With Treinen sidelined indefinitely, the Dodgers will have to lean on some of their other right-haded relievers like Phil Bickford, Brusdar Graterol, Daniel Hudson, and the recently activated Tommy Kahnle.
