Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith is one of the better young wide receivers in the league and figures to be an important part of Philadelphia’s offense this season. However, a graphic error that showed during Sunday night’s Sixers game told a different story.
During Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals between the Sixers and the Miami Heat, Smith sat courtside watching the action. During a break in the game, a camera was placed on Smith to acknowledge that he was inside the Wells Fargo Center.

Smith smiled waved at the crowd while the camera was on him, which was not a problem. The issue was that a graphic with the words “Former Philadelphia Eagle” showed up under it. Smith, the Eagles’ first-round draft pick in 2021, is still on the roster.
Smith went on Twitter to make a joke about the situation.
“Damn, got fired on my day off,” Smith tweeted.

Smith was targeted 104 times in his rookie season, catching 64 passes for 916 yards and five touchdowns. With the recent acquisition of wide receiver A.J. Brown from the Tennessee Titans, Smith figures to have an even better season, especially now that Brown’s presence should give him more space to operate and faceless one-on-one matchups.
The Sixers went on to win the game 116-108, tying the series at two games apiece.
