Dyersburg, Tenn.–Dekia Giles, age 22 of Victory Street in Dyersburg has been charged with shooting and severely wounding a victim late Saturday night. The victim is in critical condition at The Med in Memphis.
A few minutes before midnight, Dyer County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to 6115 Hwy 78 on a report of a male subject that had just been shot.
The caller advised that the shooter was no longer on scene and had left in a black Dodge Avenger headed north toward Lake County. Deputies along with a THP Unit arrived on scene and observed the victim, Raymond White, sitting on the couch in the living room with a gunshot wounds to the stomach, leg and foot.
Witnesses that were on the scene said a black Dodge Avenger was pulled close to the northern entrance of their driveway and someone in the car started shooting at White while he was standing outside. The shooter then quickly took off heading north towards Lake County. Witnesses stated they heard about five shots. Witnesses said the shooter was Dekai Giles.
Victim was flown out to the Med in Memphis and he remains in critical Condition.
Giles surrendered himself to Dyer County investigators and he was charged with Attempted Murder.
Giles is being held at Dyer County Jail and will be arraigned before Judge Jason Hudson on 05/09/2022 at 9am.
