WE EVEN COVERED HIS HOMECOMING LATE LAST MONTH, WHEN HE WAS ABLE TO COME BACK HOME TO OKLAHOMA,E H HAD A BIG WELCO,ME HE WAS COMING HOME AFTER SPENDING WEEKS AT THE BURN UNIT IN LUBBOCK, TEXA WHILE THERE, JASON SMITH HAD UNDERGONE SKIN GRAFT SURGERIES AFTER BEING BADLY BURNED IN EARLY APRIL. JASON AND ANOTHER VOLUNTREE FIREFIGHTER WERE IN THIS TRUCK, WHEN IT ROLLED OVER INTO FIRE WHILE THEY FOUGHT THE WILDFIRE IN BEAVER COUNTY. JASON WAS TRAPPED IN THE TRUCK, UNABLE TO GET OUT, UNTIL A TROOPER RESCUED M.HI BOTH FIREFIGHTERS WERE RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL, JASON, WITH THE MORE SEVERE INJURIES. THE OKLAHOMA FORESTRY SERVICE, SAYING THEIR THOUGHTS ARE WITH THE BALKO FIRE DEPARTMENT AND JASON’S FAMILY AND FEN.RI "HE HAS SUCCUMBED TO INJURIES SUFFERED LAST MONTH IN A ROLLOVER CRASH WHILE FIGHTING THE BEAV RERIVER FIRE." First responders got Smith out of the truck, and he and Morris were badly burned.

Smith, a volunteer firefighter with the Balko Fire Department, was taken to a burn unit in Texas and allowed to go home a few weeks later. Authorities announced over the weekend that he has since died.

The Balko Fire Department is accepting donations on behalf of Smith's family.
