GWINNER, N.D. (KFGO) – Two people were injured in a crash 14 miles west of Gwinner Saturday afternoon.
The North Dakota State Patrol said one person was driving a pickup following a tractor at a slow speed with her hazard lights on, escorting the machine on State Highway 13.
Another driver approached the first driver in a car while on a cell phone, failed to recognize the slow speed, and rear-ended the pickup at highway speed.
The second driver’s car left the roadway, overturned, and ended up in a water-filled ditch. The driver was able to escape before the car filled with water.
Both were taken to the Oakes Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the car was cited for distracted driving.
