Wil Wheaton reconfirms he won’t be appearing in Star Trek: Picard season three

This post contains spoilers for the final episode of season two of Star Trek: Picard which included a surprise visit by Wil Wheaton.

Wil Wheaton shocked everyone with his surprise appearance on the season two finale of Star Trek: Picard. He appeared to Kore as a Traveler and offered her the opportunity to join the team, so to speak. After confirming that he would not be appearing in season three of Picard, his sudden return as Wesley Crusher/Traveler came as a shock to everyone, but it was a welcome one as we were glad to catch up with him even briefly.

HIs appearance, though, had fans beginning to question whether he really would be showing up in season three as well. After all, there’d been no mention of his appearance in the second season. It had been kept firmly under wraps so, perhaps, that was what was going to occur in season three as well. But, according to Trekmovie, Wheaton took to his blog to quell those suspicions.

Wil Wheaton reiterated that was not a part of season three of Star Trek: Picard.

Wheaton said that Crusher and Kore might never come back on camera again, or they could go anywhere, including Strange New Worlds, Discovery, and Lower Decks but definitely not to season three. He added that he didn’t know what was next for those two characters, but he has spent some time thinking about what was going on with Wesley.

The host of The Ready Room said he may never get to play the character of Wesley Crusher again, but he still has the privilege of hosting and still gets to be a member of the exclusive “Legacy Star Trek” club.

"“I get to be a Starfleet veteran, a member of the exclusive “Legacy Star Trek” club, and an unashamed superfan who gets to take other nerds into the Room Where It Happens. I get to celebrate everything we all love about Star Trek in all its incarnations, for my job.”"

So while there’s a guarantee Wheaton would show up on season three of Picard, there is always the possibility he’ll return in another series.
