Nick Lodolo was scheduled to pitch in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Thanks to the rain that swept through the Ohio Valley on Friday, that's not going to happen.

Lodolo's next start has been pushed back. While Cincinnati Reds manager David Bell has yet to announce when we'll see the left-hander return to the mound, it seems like a safe bet to expect Lodolo back on the bump next Wednesday against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Bell has set the rotation for the upcoming series with the Pirates. Connor Overton will take the hill for Game 1 on Saturday and he'll be followed by newly acquired right-hander Robert Dugger in Game 2. Tyler Mahle will start Sunday's series finale.

When will we see Reds LHP Nick Lodolo back in the rotation?

Luis Castillo is slated to return Monday. Reds Country will be thrilled to have La Piedra back next week. The right-hander has been on a rehab assignment the past two-plus weeks after right shoulder soreness kept him off the Opening Day roster.

Tuesday's start is up in the air, and there's a very good chance that David Bell could tab Nick Lodolo to start that game. It would actually be Hunter Greene's turn through the rotation, but Bell could give the rookie an additional day of rest and start him on Wednesday versus the Milwaukee Brewers.

It's highly unlikely that Robert Dugger is going to be part of the Cincinnati Reds rotation moving forward. We're more likely to see the former Tampa Bay Rays hurler as a long reliever out of the bullpen.

Connor Overton could once again start for Cincinnati when the club begins it's four-game set at PNC Park in Pittsburgh next Thursday. Overton would then be followed by Tyler Mahle.

It's a good bet to assume that we'll see Nick Lodolo return to the hill on either Tuesday or Wednesday next week. A lot depends on whether or not the Cincinnati Reds want to keep Hunter Greene on schedule or give him an additional day of rest.

Let's not forget about Mike Minor either. The left-hander, who was acquired in an offseason trade with the Kansas City Royals, will begin a rehab assignment next week. This will be Minor's second attempt to return from the IL after the southpaw experienced shoulder soreness after his first rehab start back in mid-April.
