Last summer, Paris Saint-Germain made the surprising move to land Lionel Messi when the 34-year-old had to leave FC Barcelona after the Spanish club could not fit his wages under the La Liga rules.

As a result, Messi was a free agent, which no one would have believed. In an interview with TyC Sports, PSG midfielder Leandro Paredes spoke about having the Argentine as a teammate this past season.

The 27-year-old first discussed his reaction to finding out that Messi had everything set to join the French giants, which is something he didn’t believe. Paredes added that it wasn’t until his Argentina teammate was holding the jersey that it became a reality.

“At first, we obviously didn’t believe him. When he told me that he already had everything arranged and was going to travel to Paris to sign the contract, I told him, ‘Until you sign and I see you with the Paris Saint-Germain shirt, I won’t do it.’ I’m gonna believe'” Paredes said.

Messi’s first season in the French capital has been an up and down, where he’s struggled to score goals and after failing to have an impact in PSG’s UEFA Champions League Round of 16 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid, leading to the booing by supporters.
