Find Just The Right Amount Of Space In Van Alstyne

Yesterday, I was at an inspection, and you get to chitchatting and there’s a point to this one so hang on tight.

The inspector said he does kitchen remodels, too, and that he just completed one on the coolest house in Van Alstyne. We talked a little more about how Dallas and the surrounding suburbs continue to spread farther and farther north as people have more flexibility to work remotely and are also looking for more space and maybe, just maybe a slower pace of living.

He went on to say that Van Alstyne checks a lot of boxes. He lives up there and serves on the city council. They’re very aware of the spread and see new construction coming in every day. But, he also said they’re mindful to do what they can to keep the city in a state of controlled growth. They like where they live and they’re aware change is inevitable, but they’re dedicated to doing what they can to keep the charm and character fully intact.

The character extends to the neighborhoods including one of his favorites, Steeplechase. He said all the streets are named after horse racing venues and he’s not wrong. Case and point? This classic traditional at 364 Preakness Place Road.

If you only catch a glimpse of the front of the home, you think “OK, pretty standard 1990s construction. Brick exterior, arched entryway, nothing terribly out of the ordinary.” Inside the home, the story continues, with classic neutrals, granite, and what you would expect. But it’s the lot that really sells this one. It’s on over one acre but set in a neighborhood layout. If you need to run next door for a cup of sugar, you absolutely can. It’ll just take a few more steps.

There’s a pool out back and the way the house is situated on the lot, there’s even a little privacy, too.

“Yeah, but what are the schools like out there?” ask the people with kids. Get this? They’re highly ranked.

“By whom?” the skeptical parent continues. By schoodigger.com and GreatSchools.com. Two exceptional resources when you’re moving anywhere new.

If you find yourself craving a little more space, but aren’t ready to commit to no neighbors ever, this might be a hot spot to check out.
