...The Flood Warning continues for the following river and locations
in Indiana...

Wabash River at Lafayette, Montezuma, and Covington.

.Minor flooding continues on the Wabash River at Lafayette, and it
will begin at Montezuma and Covington late this evening. The river
crested less than one foot above flood stage at Lafayette late this
morning, and the level will drop below flood stage overnight
tonight.  Crests at Montezuma and Covington will occur Friday.  New
flood warnings may be needed Friday for Hutsonville and Riverton in
anticipation of possible flooding of about one foot or less that
could start Friday night or Saturday morning and last as late as
Monday.

Upcoming rainfall Friday into Saturday is expected to have
negligible effect on area waterways.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths
occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges,
dips, or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream,
even a small one, on foot. To escape rising water find another route
over higher ground.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL SUNDAY AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Wabash River at Montezuma.

* WHEN...Until Sunday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 14.0 feet, Several hundred acres of bottomlands along
the right bank from the mouth of Sugar Creek to northern edge of
Montezuma begin to flood.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 8:45 PM EDT Thursday the stage was 13.9 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
late this evening to a crest of 14.7 feet tomorrow evening.
It will then fall below flood stage early Sunday morning.
- Flood stage is 14.0 feet.

New local initiative to help keep your pets safe

GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - According to the American Humane Association, one out of every three pets will go missing at some point in its life. Now one local county is ensuring this never happens to your dogs and cats.

The Greene County Humane Society is offering six free microchip clinics for residents. This will take place beginning May 16, 2022 and go until June 3, 2022. There will be several clinics throughout different areas of the county.

Representatives with the humane society say this is the number one way to reunite pets with their owners.

"I mean, I see every day, people who have lost their animals and the emotion they're feeling," Kegan Inman, the president of the Board of Directors at the Greene County Humane Society, said. "It's a family member they are missing. They can't call you or contact you and they don't know how to get back to you often times. It's just a whole lot of emotion when they're missing and the happiness someone sees when you call them and they answer the phone and  you say 'hey, I'm so and so, I have your dog or cat here' and [you see] how ecstatic they are [to have their pet home]. Their world is coming back together. It's really exciting to see when you can make that reunification."
