One of the best unrestricted free agents that will be available to sign this NBA offseason is Zach LaVine. The Chicago Bulls shooting guard has developed into one of the most well-rounded, efficient scorers in the league.

LaVine helped the Bulls get back into the postseason this year, as Chicago went 46-36 during the regular season, earning the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.

They were competitive with the Milwaukee Bucks in the first two games of the series, but the Bucks turned up their defensive effort after that.

LaVine missed Game 5 because of a positive COVID-19 test, which left the Bulls dead in the water as Milwaukee focused all of their defensive attention on DeMar DeRozan. It was a disappointing end to the season that had so many positives despite all of the injuries that occurred.

Many would assume it is a near certainty that LaVine will re-sign with the Bulls this offseason, but that may not be the case. Comments he recently made leave the door open for a change of scenery.

“I plan to enjoy free agency. We’re going to have to experience A through Z without making any fast decisions. I think that’s something me and [agent Rich Paul] are going to go through and experience,” LaVine said.

“You guys have been a really, really soft spot in my heart,” he added. “I have to do this as a business decision, as a man, to not just be viewed one way and be like I’m automatically coming back or I’m automatically leaving.”

Luckily for Chicago, there aren’t many teams that can offer a max contract to players this offseason. The San Antonio Spurs are one of the teams that can and Bleacher Report believes they could be a surprise landing spot for LaVine.

San Antonio would be an interesting landing spot for LaVine. They have an All-Star point guard in place in Dejounte Murray. Keldon Johnson is someone he played with on Team USA at the Tokyo Olympics, which was coached by Gregg Popovich.

Adding a scorer of LaVine’s caliber to the mix could help the Spurs elevate their performance. They have qualified for the NBA Play-In Tournament for two consecutive years, but have not advanced beyond the first game. LaVine could help change that, as adding a 25+ point per game scorer to the mix would take San Antonio to another level.
