George Porter Jr. has shared he will sit out the remainder of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival after testing positive for COVID-19.
The original member of The Meters shared the news with his fans via social media. In a video message recorded by Porter, he stated, “About 30 hours ago, I tested positive for the COVID.” He went on to add, “I feel better today than I did yesterday. And I’m assuming tomorrow I’ll feel better, better.”
Porter went on to add that his quarantine restrictions will keep him isolated for five days, and with some hope, he might be able to return to the stage by Monday. He ended the video by reminding fans to “Stay safe out there. That stuff is still happening. Happy Jazz Fest.”
