The Charlotte Hornets have participated in the NBA’s last two play-in tournaments. They lost the first game by 27 last year, and 29 this season.
For the uninitiated, those are large margins.
None of which is entirely concerning. The Hornets are built around sophomore LaMelo Ball. They’re in the final stages of a rebuild, but they’re still rebuilding. Next season, however, they’d like to take a step forward.
One way they could do so could be by moving Gordon Hayward. He’s still a productive player, but at his $30 million annual price point, they could probably use a bigger star.

Availability is a concern for the oft-injured wing as well: he’s failed to suit up for 50 games in either of the last two seasons.
