Right now, Alexander Skarsgård can be seen in theaters across the country as Amleth, the Viking prince at the center of Robert Eggers’s The Northman. Coincidentally, his painstakingly renovated East Village co-op is now on view, too. Skarsgård’s 19th century one bedroom apartment has hit the market for $2.6 million, AD can confirm. This is a modest increase from the $2.3 million the Big Little Lies villain paid for the New York City home back in 2017.

Though Skarsgård extensively renovated the space during his time there, his upgrades and changes were done to heighten and highlight the intact original details. He refurbished the original pine flooring, and left elements like the exposed brick, original pocket shutters, a pre-war wood-burning marble fireplace, and exposed beams in tact throughout the apartment.

Custom European white oak cabinetry and Carrara marble countertops in the kitchen provide a refined backdrop, especially when compared to the dark, modern cabinets and tiling they replaced. The unit takes up the entire top floor of the building, allowing for skylights in the bedroom, bathroom, and the living space. Light from the bathroom’s skylight is reflected by a brass insert in the shower that provides a dramatic backdrop for an otherwise beautifully simple space that utilizes Duravit plumbing and Waterworks fixtures. European white oak was also employed for custom floor-to-ceiling closets in the bedroom that cover nearly an entire wall.

The purchase of the apartment also includes roof rights, allowing the new owner to build out a private roof deck should they see fit. The property is listed with Julia Hoagland of The Julia Hoagland Team and Emma St. Laurent of Compass.
