Leicester City defender Jonny Evans is seemingly open to extending his expiring contract. This news will delight the Blue Army.

What comes to mind when you think about the awesome Foxes centreback that is Jonny Evans? I would suggest three main elements: calm under pressure, world-class capability and a, usually, well marshalled defence. Actually, the Northern Ireland international is so good that the word is Manchester United regret ever allowing him to depart. Naturally.

Thankfully it seems as though no other team will get their hands on the 34-year-old, possibly until retirement. Evans made it clear that he would consider an extention on his current deal. The existing contract expires in one year’s time.

"“Definitely, I’ve been really happy here,” the 34-year-old said at the prospect of signing a new contract.“There’s nothing about this place that wouldn’t make you want to stay here and play football.”BBC Sport"

An insight into the great character of Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers

Did you see what I did for the subheading there? Good. Joking over – allow me to explain. You see, Brendan Rodgers and Jose Mourinho go back years. Back to Chelsea 20 years ago actually. As widely reported, there is a mutual respect between the bosses, exemplified by the former gifting an expensive and difficult-to-source bottle of Portuguese wine to his counterpart.

In fact, Mourinho was very compliment about the East Midlands side during the build up to both home and away clashes. The Yellows and Reds gaffer says LCFC’s Premier League triumph was amazing, the training ground is one of the globe’s best and that the club as a whole is amazing, too. Which is high praise from a particularly successful person.

In response to a question about any presents the King Power outfit’s chief wants in return from his opposite number, Rodgers said a cup of tea was sufficient. He added that he is not a drinker especially, yet enjoys a glass of wine occasionally. Reciprocating is unnecessary, according to ‘BR’, because the gesture was out of respect.
