Jimmye Dale and Bea Green celebrate 60th anniversary

Sunday afternoon, the children of Bea and Jimmye Dale Green hosted a beautiful picnic honoring their 60th wedding anniversary. Friends and family alike joined them at the farm to celebrate. Congratulations on this incredible milestone. Y’all are so loved.

Saturday night, part of Highway 4 East was turned into a magical wonderland with the wedding of Regan Murphy and Miles Pritchard. White tents donned the property filled with absolutely gorgeous floral arrangements, lights galore and tables laden with exquisite food.

A fabulous band played as wedding guests danced the night away across the pool on clear acrylic dance floor. Fireworks exploded into the air to bring the incredible evening to a close. Here’s to many, many years of wedded bliss for Mr. and Mrs. Pritchard.

Sara Power and Kay Wheeler were honored at Marshall Academy last week with a retirement ceremony prior to a playoff baseball game. Both teachers retired last year. Head of School, Jason Taylor, spoke to everyone prior to a lovely prayer. Clancy’s catered the event with their always yummy barbecue and a touch of charcuterie.

Power and Wheeler threw out the “first pitches”. Power had an edge, as she’d been getting a little coaching. It was a great afternoon.

I can speak on my Momma, Kay, having taught a combined 50 years of her life. She obviously began teaching many years ago, but finished an accomplished career at Marshall Academy. She taught me accounting and typing both. She went to the public sector for some years on the Coast then back up here. When Caitlyn “crossed the breezeway”, Momma returned to Marshall Academy. Thankfully, she was able to teach both Caitlyn and Grady.

She has taught generations of children from families. It was nice to see things come full circle “on the mound” on that beautiful afternoon. Marshall Academy has been our family for too many years to mention. I appreciate all the love shown for my Momma by a school she dearly adored.
