Portland Trail Blazers’ assistant coach Edniesha Curry is expected to be the keynote speaker at the Oregon Girls Sports Leadership Summit this weekend.
The annual summit will be held at Oregon Episcopal School on Saturday.
Curry completed her first season as an assistant with the Blazers during the 2021-2022 season. She joined the staff after her stint as an assistant coach with the University of Maine men’s basketball team from 2018-21. Curry is a graduate of the University of Oregon, where she played the final two seasons of her college career.
Sports broadcaster Ann Schatz is also scheduled to speak at the summit. In addition, athletes such as former Central Catholic star Kailee Johnson, former Prairie High star Ashley Corral and Tualatin High School’s Cally Togiai will participate in a Q&A session.
The purpose of the summit, in its fourth year, is to “give female student-athletes with an interest in leadership the same emphasis on instruction, encouragement, and practice that we give athletes before asking them to compete,” according to the organization’s press release. The event was created for female student-athletes in grades 9-12.
