Brendan Rodgers had an incredible run as Celtic manager, completely dominating Scottish football. It was under him that the team was transformed into the Treble winning machine that would go on to eventually win twelve straight domestic titles or what is now famously known as the Quadruple Treble.

For all his brilliance though, Rodgers is not a very popular figure amongst Celtic fans these days and that is completely due to the manner of his exit. He departed the club in the middle of the season in order to join Leicester City back in 2019.

Admittedly, he has done a wonderful job there and guided the Foxes to an FA Cup and a Community Shield. But his exit did leave a bitter taste in the mouths of a lot of Celtic supporters. There is no doubt though that under his management, the club achieved some of their most impressive feats.

Jose Mourinho believes that people have forgotten how well Rodgers did at Celtic because they don’t focus on Scottish football much. As reported by Football Scotland, the legendary Portuguese manager said:

"“With Liverpool, people forget what he did with much, much less resources than Liverpool has now.“He did amazing and then the Scottish history [with Celtic], people forget because people doesn’t focus much on Scottish Premier League(sic).“To win the FA Cup with Leicester and even the Community Shield, the stability in the club, the way they play, their recruitment, it is a perfect fit, Leicester and Brendan; very, very good.”"

This is certainly an interesting take from Mourinho. On one hand, he did get the Leicester City job straight out of Celtic, so people certainly took notice of what he was doing. But at the same time, one has to admit, it is unlikely that he would get that role, despite his incredible achievements with the Hoops, if he did not have that history with Liverpool and the job that he had done at Anfield.

One has to admit that Rodgers is a wonderful manager even though the manner of his Parkhead exit was questionable at best, especially since he grew up a Celtic fan.

Celtic do appear to have a brilliant manager on their hands once again though in the form of Ange Postecoglou, who has taken a side that had completely collapsed last season, and guided them to a successful campaign.
