A third suspect wanted in connection with a mid-March shooting outside Connelsville has been captured.
The Adair County Sheriff's Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Kenneth Leon Potter, 50, of Novinger, Wednesday morning.
Chief Deputy Jason Lene told KTVO Potter was located at a residence in Connelsville and taken into custody without incident.
The arrest followed a tip from an off-duty Adair County Sheriff’s Office employee, who saw a vehicle Potter was possibly driving and reported it to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators located that vehicle at a home in Connelsville, where they then made the arrest.
Potter and his son, Kenneth Dylan Potter, 25, of Novinger, both face eight charges, including two counts of first-degree attempted murder.
Investigators say the men fired shots from their vehicles as they chased a pickup truck north on Highway 149 near Connelsville on the night of March 16, 2022.
Multiple bullets struck the truck, which was driven by James Keith Vanvelzer, 46, of Green Castle.
One of the bullets hit a woman in the pickup in the side of the head. Authorities said her injuries were non-life-threatening, and she survived.
Investigators said, prior to the shooting, Vanvelzer had initiated a confrontation with the elder Potter in the parking lot of the Novinger convenience store.
Deputies said Vanvelzer broke Kenneth L. Potter's arm by striking him with a long-handled floor scraper.
Following that scuffle, Vanvelzer was charged with first-degree assault causing serious physical injury and armed criminal action.
